BetOnline Poker Review

BetOnline is a longstanding and US-friendly gambling website which is part of the Chico Poker Network. The website has been online as far back as 2004 and is owned by a subsidiary of Thort Management. BetOnline offers a wide variety of gambling services such as sportsbook, casino, horses, the new and trending e-sports betting and, of course, poker. Continue reading this BetOnline Poker review to find out what’s good and what isn’t about this online poker website.

Is BetOnline a licensed poker website?

As a Panama-based company, BetOnline’s poker website has an e-gambling license in good standing with the Government of Panama and is a licensed and trustworthy poker website.

What kind of competition to expect?

The competition on BetOnline’s poker website can vary depending on table and lobby, but across a seven-day period it averages about 650 players with peak numbers going over a thousand. There is a multitude of well-organised tournaments run at all times and all of them are played at No Limit Hold’em. The player traffic is high enough for BetOnline to continuously run tournaments at a steady pace.

BetOnline’s poker player base is mostly consisted of beginners, thanks to most of them being redirected from their main website. As such, it fields quite an opportunity for both a level playing field for other beginners or a high success rate for more seasoned veterans of poker.

Games Variation

The cash games at BetOnline are NLHE or No Limit Hold’em and are divided into Micro/Low Stakes and Medium/High Stakes. Most of the tables are for 6 to 10 players, with heads up games available as well. Interestingly, you’ll also find a handful of 4 player tables. Micro/Low Stakes’ limit being anywhere from $0.01/$0.02 to $0.25/$0.50 while the Medium/High Stakes sees tables from 0.50$/1.00$ up to 5$/10$ tables.

The only alternate game is the Omaha with it’s High and High/Low variants and as such, presents one of the cons of BetOnline’s Poker website.

Poker Tournaments

A wide range of tournaments are offered at BetOnline in terms of stakes, even though the focus is primarily on the lower stakes tournaments. The majority of these tournaments have buy-ins of $25 or under. Many are also Euro-friendly, and European players are free to join and play.

There are guaranteed Saturday and Sunday poker tournaments which are more generous than ever at $130.000 plus up for grabs.

Sunday:

Time ET Tournament Buy-in
12 pm $5,000 (Turbo) $10+$1
4 pm $15,000 $30+$3
7 pm *$50,000 $90+$9
10 pm $10,000 (Turbo) $20+$2

* On the last Sunday of the month this is replaced with a $100,000 GT with a buy-in of $100 + $9.

Bounty Tournaments (which are almost unique amongst poker sites) are live at BetOnline.ag Poker. While in the Poker Lobby, look for tournaments with a “K” next to the tournament name. Once the action starts, you will earn a cash bounty for each and every player you knock out of the tournament. The more opponents you send home, the more extra cash you receive.

Rake

At BetOnline Poker, no rake is taken before the flop in Hold’em and Omaha, and no rake will be taken from uncalled pots. A rake is only taken from money that has been matched by at least one player in the pot. BetOnline.ag uses a fixed schedule for its rake, based on the table limit and number of seats but it does not offer rakeback.

Multiple Tables

Players at BetOnline poker may play multiple tables at the same time, which is encouraged by the website itself by a presenting a guide on the various methods of playing multiple tables. Multiple tables are allowed both in BetOnline free play and tournaments.

BetOnline Poker Promo Code Bonus Details

When you make your first deposit on BetOnline, double it up with the 100% match poker bonus. Simply send an email to freeplay@betonline.ag with the bonus code NEWBOL as the subject line. Your bonus will then be released into your account $5 at a time. There are no BetOnline no deposit bonus codes.

Poker Software

BetOnline uses poker software provided by Connective Games (CG). CG’s Random Number Generator (RNG) has been tested by Gaming Laboratories Industries (GLI) and has successfully met industry standards in randomness and highly-regulated jurisdictions.

GLI is one of the most reputable and trusted independent gaming product testing laboratories in the world and as such is regularly contracted by gaming operators and software developers to test their products.

The poker software used by BetOnline is very easy to use and reliable when it comes to single table play, although when multiple tables are concerned, there have been various issues reported by multiple users such as delayed reactions, website freezes and disconnects.

Mobile & App Support

Every game that BetOnline offers can be played from the mobile browser, or through the official BetOnline poker app which is the recommended method. In order to access the mobile variants of the BetOnline poker games, the mobile device must be iPad 3/iPhone 5 or higher for iOS, or a mobile device that uses Android OS 6 or higher.

Ease of access and play

You have to sign-up at their website – if you download their poker client first and expect to be able to sign-up through it, you’ll just get taken back to the website. After you enter your BetOnline poker login, you are redirected to the poker lobby, which looks elegant and professional. Its functionality is at a high level as well, achieved by putting buttons in convenient places unlike most of its competitors which use popups. Yet, when it comes to the games and tables themselves, they show an aged and lacking design which takes away from the experience.

BetOnline review payout and deposit

BetOnline has one of the largest selections of deposit and payout options in the industry, which is a huge plus for the players. A downside for the European part of the playerbase might be that it only deals in US dollars.

The following currencies are accepted: Bitcoin, Litecoin, Visa, Mastercard, Person to Person, Money Orders, Skrill, Neteller, Bank Wire Transfer, Cashiers Check

When it comes to payouts: Bitcoin, Litecoin, Person to Person, Money Orders, Skrill, Neteller, Bank Wire Transfer, Cashiers Check

The highest deposit limit is available through Bitcoin and Litecoin at $25.000, while the lowest is through Neteller and Skrill at $10. On the flipside, the highest payout limit is available through Bank Wire transfer, while the lowest is through Bitcoin and Litecoin at $10.

More information on the various deposit and withdrawal limits can be found on their website.

Is BetOnline Poker safe?

BetOnline employs the latest in SSL data encryption secure technology to protect both your financial and personal data at all times.

Fair Play

The rules presented on the official website of BetOnline Poker ensure that players are provided with fair and ethical playing conditions. Those that break the house rules have their account frozen, funds confiscated, and are unable to join BetOnline in the future.

Customer Support

Like most online gambling services, BetOnline is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. There is a phone line and several email addresses, but what bothers me is the lack of live chat support (which in this day and age is undoubtedly the most used support tool). BetOnline’s support team has also been fairly criticised by its users which might point to poor new recruits.

What’s the difference between betonline.ag and betonline.com?

On the 14th of August 2009, BetOnline switched domains from betonline.com to betonline.ag in order to refresh and rebrand their website and company. It is the same organisation and same people behind it, only with a new domain. Even today though, the old domain name is active and contains links to redirect to the new one.

BetOnline BlackJack Cheating Scandal

In February of 2017, a dealer from a BetOnline live casino was caught “second dealing” on a blackjack table which caused massive concern amongst its customers. The company were quiet regarding the BetOnline rigged live casino deal.

After the incident, they switched their live dealer casino services provider, which are most of the time responsible for the live casino settings players see on these online gambling websites. BetOnline then responded that they “had been informed about the potentially questionable behaviour of a blackjack dealer from their previous live casino service provider. Since then, no other such incident has occurred, which may prove that BetOnline takes their security and fair play seriously.

Pros

  • Easy and comfortable access and play
  • Available for mobile devices
  • Multitude of payment and withdrawal options
  • Lower level of competition

Cons

  • Aged and lacking graphical design
  • Mixed to negative review of customer support
  • Low game variation
  • Blackjack cheating scandal shows concern

Conclusion

In this BetOnline Poker review, we’ve seen that the website is a longstanding name which has, for the most part, been a professional and comfortable setting for beginner poker players. Its weaknesses have not been ignored though. BetOnline seems to lack the innovation that most of its peers possess, and its very recent scandal is worrying.
