888poker has released details of its upcoming XL Spring Series, which is set to start on May 30, with 25 events to be held in eight days.
The XL Spring Series will feature over $1 million in guarantees, with $500,000 allocated for the main event. After trying out the progressive knockout format during the XL Winter Series, 888poker is returning to a more conventional format this time around.
As with other recent 888 tournaments, affordable buy-ins are widely available. Most of the events have entry fees under $100, with a significant number under $33. There are even three tournaments with an entry fee of just $5 and a guaranteed prize of $15,000. 888poker has lowered the main event’s entry price from $1,000 to just $250.
Satellite competitions for the Main Event are well underway. The buy-ins for these events are priced at $22.00 and $3.30. 888poker is holding sub-satellite events with fees as low as 1 cent. While series are held, random tables will get gift drops with exciting prizes and tickets for XL.
Since the XL Series events started in 2018, they’ve been decreasing in size. It looks like 2021 is not likely to see a change in that trend. Initial tournaments had more events and a prize pool of almost $3 million.
Even though the XL Spring Series 2021 has fewer tournaments and a third of the prize money, the main event has a decent reward of $500,000, which is sure to attract players.
The prize pool is the lowest so far, but there are fewer events. Because of that, the average prize pool per tournament is higher than it was for the XL Winter Series held in December 2020.
