The 18-year-old striker has completed his loan move to Raith Rovers.

On Tuesday, Stoke City announced the loan by wishing Varian success during his time at Stark’s Park. The striker should be on loan until January 2022. Raith Rovers are based in Kirkcaldy, and they play in the second division in Scotland.

Varian, who spent the last four seasons at Stoke City, has now become the twelfth player this summer to depart the Bet365 Stadium. He had 33 appearances over the past two seasons in Premier League 2, in which he managed to score nine goals and six assists. He also represented Ireland against Wales in March 2021 at Under-21 level as a second-half substitute.

Varian already made his debut last weekend in a Testimonial match against Hibs. He replaced Matej Poplatnik at half-time and showed a solid 45-minute performance.

“It was a good test for me (playing Hibs), first game back from injury, it was good to get 45 minutes into the tank so hopefully push on from that game,” said Varian after the game.

Raith Rovers have meanwhile secured another signature. Central midfielder Blaise Riley will also be joining them on a short-term deal until January 2022. Both players could now feature in Rovers’ tie against Livingston on Wednesday evening in the Premier Sports Cup.

The Rovers finished third in the league last season and now have high expectations from the new players. Rover’s manager John McGlynn said, “Ethon [Varian] is coming down from Stoke, and he is an attacking player who will add to our options in that area.”

He also commented on Blaise’s arrival, “Blaise has been over in Spain for the last couple of years and was in the lower leagues of England before that […] but he has come in and really impressed us.

“He is the profile of what we are looking for with regards to stature, size and ability because we don’t have that type of player in midfield,” added McGlynn.

We’ll see how these two new players will affect the Rovers’ performance throughout the Premier Sports Cup and what odds online gambling and betting venues will prepare for all those sports bettors among Rovers’ fans.
